This week we started Science Workshops in the afternoons. Students met in their "forum groups" (mixed 1st through 4th grade groups) to study Newton's Laws of Gravity. Each of the workshops focuses on a particular law. Students used science process skills (Observation, Communication, Classification, Measurement, Inference, and Prediction) and participated in experiments and activities to learn about the laws of gravity. On student posts this week kids were asked to respond to the following:
- Which workshop did you attend?
- Describe one activity that your group did.
- Tell which of the process skills you used in your activity.
On Thursday students went with their 3/4 "techie" buddies to the computer lab to post to their respective blogs. Look for the link to Mr. Willis' blog to see what his class has been doing.

We put something on the floor and built a mechine to get it on the table. I was in Mr. Popolis group.
I was with Ms. Peterson. We had a ballon and a pencilcase and a rope and the expierement was how fast or slow it would fall when we let go. We used a piece of paper to record how fast or how slow it would go.
i was in mr.popolis group and we put something on the floor and had to get it on the table and envent something to put it on the table.
I got to go in a rocket
I was in ms.peterson class we took a ballon and tiped itb on to a pen case and the pen case was connected to a string that want across the room we used obsering and measurement.

I went to Mrs. Peterson class room. We blew up a balloon with a straw, and let it go on a string and it de-flated and made a funny noise. I used an infrence to what was going to happen.
i was in mr.willises room we got a botel that was half filled with water and a tabel cloth we put the botel on the tabel cloth and yanked it off the tabel.
i was in mr.popoli's class.we talked about gravity.we put somthing on the floor and built a machine to get it on the table.
I went to ms.peterson's class, but I forget what we did.
I was in mr.kelogg class for science workshops. I messered each different kind of balls. I had a lot of fun!
I was in mrs.things class for science workshops.
1 groop did a marbel thing where you have a toob and you drop the marbel down the toob and you see where it lands.
I went to mr.kelog,s sinse work shop. we used a fork and a knife and a masher to try and squish a crabapple. We made a prediction about which tool would squish the apple.
Wait, I remember are topic was equel and oppeset amout and we pulled it down to see if how far we pull it down is the same as it goes up.
in mrs.things class we soung theas round medle thing and we started with one and then we added one and we all thoult it would go faster but it went the same then we shorind it and it went a lot faster and the other peopel rold a marble down a tub and it went from (23) (18) (12) (6) on one side and the same on the other side.
In Mr.Popoli's class we learnd the second law of motion. we built a mechine that would pick up the items and put them on the table. We communicated during our workshop.
I was in Mr.keloge science workshop. We were doing the threed law. He had a smasher and he smashed the apple. seth
Hello Ms. Peterson's class! I can tell how much you all enjoyed working together from the great writing that you did. I can really understand what you did in the other classes thanks to your specific answers. I can't wait to do more work together!

I attended Mr. Willis' group. We learned about gravity. Mr. Willis put a penny on his elbow and he dropped his hand and caught the penny! We learned that when you hold a book it's a rest and when you drop it it's awake.
